Stress......
This weekend has been a very stressful weekend. My sister went to the emergency room twice in a matter of 15 hours for an ear ache and sore throat. My sister is one that doesn't like doctors or the clinic so for her requesting to go find out what was wrong was a shock and we know she had to be in so much pain. The doctors got it all figured out and undercontrol her sickness and now she is on the road to recovery. But it was stressful when my mom and I were taking her out there. To help cope with the stress, I talked to my friend about the situation and they listened to me and said if I need anything they would be around. Also another friend left me a very funny voicemail and that made me smile and lighten the mood. Sometimes during stress you just need to laugh. Find something funny and just laugh, it really does lighten the mood and makes you think wow thats just what I needed!

Relationships
The relationships I pick are those with friends I have not talking to or seen for a long time. I used to be close to a lot of people but as we got older and many situations that have occured for us to lose our friendship, I feel I have lost a part of me from not being friends with them. I have already started to reconnect with those friends that I lost the connection with and it is true a quote my friend that I reconnected with put on a picture of us, "True friendship isn't being inseparable, its being separated and nothing changes." This quote is very true, she was my first roommate in college and my best friend that knew more about me then anybody else did. Some bad choices and words said not only by us but by her boyfriend to me hurt our friendship. I knew that I would always miss being her friend and at that time we were still learning our way around forever friends. My goal is to spend more time hanging out with her and just catching up on all the lost time. We know that we will never have that same friendship back or relive the same memories. But we know that we have those great memories and that we now have the chance to make new memories together. In me making mends with her my other best friend that was friends with her also, we were 3 peas in a pod, connected at the hip-has also started to talk to her again after their fight they had. It makes me feel amazing knowing that we are all at the point were we can talk and be together again! "Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget!!!!!"
Eating Disorders
In class when we were talking about it, it was had to hear that there are many people with eating disorders. I learned from a young age about my friend that was suffering from it. I didn't quite understand at that time but as I got older I realized how serious these situations were. It is sad that such young people suffer these disorders and feel they need to change who they are by these drastic measures. I cannot imagine the heartbreak it brings to the families that have someone close to them that suffers with this constant battle. I know for these situations will never completely be gone but it would be great if children and teenagers or anyone for that matter would not suffer espically from the media and hurtful things other say.

grow.....
In terms of my own personal growth...lately I have been hanging out with friends that I did hang out with the first year of college. Everybody had different schedules and moved dorms and it was hard for everybody to get together and we all agreed but lately we have all be talking more and decided that once a week we were going to meet and hang out and chat and catch up. This is amazing because even though we haven't chatted a lot we still talk like it was just yesterday we were together. Also, I have made many new friends from where I work and also from my classes. This is amazing to have such a wide group of friends!! I also blogged at the beginning of the year about connecting with family. My dad and I are going out to Utah over midterm break to see my greatgrandma and grandma (his grandma and mom). I have not seen my grandma since I was 10 and i seen my greatgrandma for my high school graduation. This will be an interesting trip out there and back (praying the weather doesn't get to bad).
I am also volunteering for Haven House and I am very excited to just in and help. I have had some relationship problems growing up (dating and boyfriends) and I have grown from those experiences and will hopefully help others that need the same support I had or even just somebody they can talk to just so they can say it outloud and figure out what they need to do for themselves. I am very excited to see what the next couple of weeks brings!!!

Being yourself
"Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are" - Kurt Cobain
Growing up you always have role models. When I was growing up I always wanted to be like my parents. They taught me everything I wanted to know and more. My dad always let me help him work on his projects and my mom let me "read" my story books to her, I thought these were the best times. But in growing older, I discovered there were other people out there I wanted to be like. Not the supermodel/celebrities but the ones that were always in the background helping the other succeed. I always loved watching TLC on tv and still do today. On this show its so many people helping others to live better lives and make the best of who they are even if they don't see themselves that way. In wanting to be someone else, never made sense to me. I never really followed the trends that were set by classmates, I did what I thought was right and opinions didn't matter when it came to what I felt was right. I always try to overcome my goals and set new and higher standards for myself and for everyone around me. Because I believe in positive reinforcement, you will never accomplish anything by always being put down. Even if I do have negative thoughts and sometimes voice them, I always go back and try to correct my mistakes and think of positive things. In never wanting to be somebody else I feel I have become a role model for many people. I always strive to do my best in everything and I want others to do and feel the same.

Weekend!!
This weekend, I forgot to blog but here I am on a Monday night thinking about how my weekend went. I went to the doctor on Thursday afternoon and found out that I have a bladder infection! YUCK!!! Not fun at all....So they told me they were going to call in my medicine for me to pick up and it took almost a hour for me to get six stinking pills...so needless to say I was supposed to work at six but I had to call in and tell them I would be a little later due to not getting my medicine when they said I would! I also hung out with one of my good friends, she had German night at her house. Great food and great friends couldn't make for a better night even though I wasn't feeling the greatest. Then I spent the rest of the weekend doing laundry and studying for my test that were this week!!

Formative years of childhood
Focus on: “to a large extent, your self-concept is formed by what others tell you about yourself, especially during the formative years of childhood.”
Do you agree with this statement?
What experiences did you have in your formative years that helped shape your self-concept?
I do agree with this statement because when I went to private school preschool-6th grade and I had the same friends and teachers that were always around. I grew a great deal about myself because I always had positive reinforcement about things I did that were good and when I needed help I was not afraid to ask. Also, my parents always told me that they always had faith in me to accomplish anything I set my mind to, this has always been with me and they still tell me that today. Also, having a close group of friends in elementary school helped me know that no matter what they looked like or how they acted they were still people just the same and that I was friends with them even if I didn't what to play on the the playground with them all the time. I also think that since I am the first born I always tried to play "mom" to my little sister. My mom would always let me help take care of her and I was always been the supportive one listening to my little sister and my friends and also the teacher because I would also try and teach my sister everything I knew. I was also called sunshine as a nickname by my family because I was always smiling and also tried to find the positive in everything.

Accept, Courage, Wisdom
From chapter one in our text book the most important thing to remember for change is that it is a proactive process, and only you can decide what you want to change and how much change is right for you. Also it surprised me the Serenity Prayer (page 6) is in the textbook. I have this typed up and on my wall at school and at home where I can see at all times. This does say a lot about change and does change my perspective of things when I am down or think I can’t do something.
This semester one thing I would like to change and grow from is connection with my family. I am getting to the point in my life where I am realizing that my great grandma and my grandparents will not be here as long as I would like them to be. I do not know very much about my great grandma and my grandma from my dad’s side and it has been hard to talk to them after they pushed us (my family), out of their lives and moved. It has taken many years before I would even consider talking to them. But that has changed when I called my grandma for her birthday and it was great to talk to her. I know I will continue to try and talk to her more and learn more about my family from that side. My grandparents from my mom’s side, I am very close to and they mean the world to me and my goal is that since they live closer is to see them more often and not think of it as “Oh I should go spend time with them.” Make it positive and know that they love to see me and that I should feel great that they are still here to go see and spend time with. Also to spend more time with my family when I am home from school and to cherish that time and also become closer to my sister.
